Brian S. BrownPresident, National Organization for Marriage Brian S. Brown, prior to coming to NOM in 2007, was the executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut. During the five years he was with the Family Institute, he developed it into one of the largest statewide pro-family organizations in the Northeast. NOM is credited with raising the early money to get Prop 8 on the ballot in California, lead the effort to repeal gay marriage in Maine, helped block gay marriage bills in New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Rhode Island, spent more than $600,000 airing media ads in Iowa that helped persuade Iowans to refuse to re-elect three judges who voted for gay marriage, and helped flip the legislature in New Hampshire after the majority voted for gay marriage in 2010. NOM also played a key role in persuading Minnesota to pass a marriage amendment, bringing the issue to voters in 2012. As President of NOM, Brian Brown has appeared in multiple national news outlets including the Associated Press, The Los Angeles Times, FoxNews.com, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, and Politico as well as numerous radio shows, Christian media outlets, and television stations around the country. Brian is a C. Phil. at UCLA in American History, earned his B.A./M.A. in Modern History at Oxford University, and received his B.A. in History from Whittier College.
